Testimonials

Casa Grande

The house was absolutely beautiful, amazing view and place. Lots of space inside and outside, we were 10 adults and 9 kids. Lots of space. One room had a crib bed for a baby. The house is very hot loads of electric and gas heaters. We had to turn them off, it was very hot at night. So don't take too many warm pyjamas, you won't need it. The house is full of history and you will feel it. You will live in the 16th century, because there are many items that look really old. So I definitely recommend it, Fernanda was there to help us, when needed. And thank you very much to all the family and Ines for letting us feel this experience.

Our stay at Mangualde Stone Cottage was a dream, a house set in a green setting, where you are close enough to civilisation but surrounded by nature. Ines showed constant availability to work out any details and answer questions we might have, and service was always provided for us when we needed it. The house is more spacious inside than the pictures would have you believe, which is a wonderful surprise, and our group of four was perfectly accommodated in the space, which was fully equipped for anything we wanted to do. It had the best-stocked kitchen I've ever seen in a rental, and there are even extra towels and blankets provided for us in the closets! The outdoor space has plenty of places for outdoor activities: tables for meals, park benches for snacks, longchaises for sunbathing, reading or sitting by the pool, and the distance from a major city gives you lovely sunrises, sunsets and magical night views. I would definitely encourage anyone interested in coming for a getaway to this beautiful place.

This Mansion is incredible: when we arrived, we couldn't believe that we could stay in a place that could be a museum! Everything is really so authentic. So it's best if you don't expect the comfort of a modern building and are willing to adapt a little. Be prepared to step back in time; we also enjoy being offline, having really quality relaxing time with the family. The outer wall is huge, made of stone blocks of sometimes incredible size; you'll find seats on either side of the windows (made inside the wall, it's so thick). The inner walls are much less massive. The view from some of the rooms is incredible, overlooking the valley and river. The internal circulation is sometimes peculiar — first going up to going down again towards the kitchen — but in Portugal be ready to use stairs. Don't forget to ask for instructions on some appliances — like the dishwasher oven — and the garbage. There is plenty of space to relax in the living room or eat together in the dining room. Some of the rooms are larger than others, as are the bathrooms. Beds are not very big. You can buy wine produced on the estate (and olive oil). You can take a good walk from the village, to see the river or the forest. Thank you Inés for your immediate communication; thanks Fernanda and husband, in the house.

Casa do Pátio

Inês and her family have a fantastic place at Darei's House. The house we rented is a real vacation family home: a bit tatty in places, but with lots of charm. The rooms get quite warm during the summer, but opening the windows helps. The garden, pool, river and lake are all lovely and refreshing during the hot days. And plenty to do in the surrounding area. The main house (holds 20 people, we didn't stay there) is just extraordinary! We want to come back with a large group of friends
